  Chapter Ten

  Logan

  “You come in my house and have sex with my daughter and expect me not to be pissed when I come home and hear moans coming from upstairs?” Mrs. Sterling was livid when we finally made it downstairs, you could see she had been near tears the moment we walked in.

  “I’m not going to bullshit with you, Mrs. Sterling. I love your daughter, and this has nothing to do with the sex we shared. It has everything to do with what I feel for her inside of here.” I pointed to my chest, my heart.

  Mrs. Sterling squinted her eyes at me and then turned to Isabella, who was more than shaken up over the whole thing. It was a mistake to have taken her here in her bed, especially when her mom wasn’t home, and could show up at any time.

  “Love? You think he loves you? He’s got to be six years older than you, Isabella.” Her mother’s concerns were genuine I would give her that, but what I felt for her daughter bordered on insanity. I wouldn’t hurt her and I most certainly wouldn’t let another fucking man touch her. She was mine.

  “I love him, Momma. The second I met him I knew he was it.” Isabella smiled nervously at me. I gripped her hand in mine, squeezing it tighter, just so she would realize I was still here with her.

  Her mother shook her head, “This isn’t how it works, Isabella. You’re my daughter, my only child. You’re all I have left.” Tears rimmed her eyes, and I knew I needed to prove to her just how much her daughter meant to me.

  “Mrs. Sterling. I love your daughter and I’m not going to let anything happen to her. Not now, not ever. You will never find her hurt in my presence, and I will hurt anyone who tries to hurt her. When I say I want her and that I love her, I mean it.” I stared her straight in the eyes, and she met my stare. I could see the love she had for her daughter was fierce.

  Seconds, maybe even minutes, passed. Who knows, but we stood there waiting for her to decide, and I could see it. All of it weighing heavily on her mind. She was wondering if I was worth it. If I was a man of my word.

  “If this is what you want, Isabella, then I will honor it. I will give you my blessing.” The love she had for her daughter was astounding and I respected that because she was Isabella’s mom, and if I loved Isabella, then I loved her mother because she was the reason I had this amazing woman.

  “Really?” Disbelief dripped from Isabella’s words.

  “Yes, under one condition.” Mrs. Sterling lifted her finger, pointing it at me. “You will not have sex with my daughter again in this house.” She raised an eyebrow at me, and I snickered swallowing around the laughter.

  “I swear it won’t happen again.” And it wouldn’t at least not for a long ass time. Next time I took Isabella it would be in my bed, in the one place I had never brought another woman before.

  “Good. Now if you don’t mind I would like to spend the rest of the evening with my daughter.” That was my cue to leave, even though I didn’t want to.

  “I’ll show him out, Mom,” Isabella grumbled, clearly upset that I was leaving. I was upset too, but this would give me a chance to talk things over with Luke. To explain to him that things with Isabella were serious and that I wasn’t going to be fucking around anymore.

  Her mother shooed us out of the kitchen, and Isabella walked me to the door. I found my phone in my pocket and messaged for an Uber.

  “I can’t believe…” Isabella let out a sigh as we walked out the front door our hands still interlocked. I looked down at them, relishing in the feeling that burned through my veins because I had her, because I loved her.

  “Believe it, and when you roll over in the morning and feel that sweet soreness resonating through your muscles and pussy, remember who it was that provided you with that feeling.” Even though I wanted to stay and cuddle the fuck out of her and maybe even slip in another session of sex I knew this was for the best. Her pussy needed rest and I needed to square shit away with Luke because Isabella would be coming over tomorrow.

  “Oh, I’ll remember, how could I possibly forget?” The smile that lingered on her face was one that I would strive to put there every single day. I would be the best man I could possibly be, and I would take care of her to the best of my ability.

  “I didn’t think you could, or would, I just wanted you to know you’ll feel me and all the things I did to you in the last two hours.” I placed my lips over hers, and she sighed into my touch, melting into a molten pile of mush.

  The sound of a car horn blaring behind us forced me to step away from her. I looked down at her, whispering words I never expected too.

  “I love you, Isabella. Sleep tight, because I’ll be seeing you again tomorrow.” The coldness of leaving her didn’t seem to bite nearly as much as I expected it to, even as I walked away and got into the car. My eyes stayed trained on hers until I hit the end of the road, and she was no longer in sight.

  “Yes, Luke. Fuck me. Harder. Harder.” Luke’s hookup moaned as I pushed through the front door. There was shit thrown around in every single direction and it looked as if someone had gotten into a fight right here in the living room.

  My eyes honed in on him and then the girl he had pinned against the kitchen counter, her tits bouncing in the air as he continued to thrust inside of her.

  “You’re a bad, bad girl, and you know what I do to bad girls?” Luke growled before taking one of her tits into his mouth, “Fuck them harder.” His eyes lifted to mine, a deep anger radiating through them and into me. He was pissed off at me and he was taking it out on everyone else.

  “You can stop at any point and time,” I mumbled, heading into the kitchen to get a bite to eat. As surprising as it was to find a naked girl being fucked across my kitchen counter, it wasn’t all that surprising that Luke had done it.

  Luke pulled out of her and mumbled something in her ear. A firm pout formed on her face, and her lips turned down even more as Luke continued to speak. She slipped off the edge of the counter and just as her feet hit the ground, and she took off in the direction of her clothes which were somewhere in the living room Luke landed a hard smack against one of her ass cheeks.

  “Just because you’re mad at me doesn’t mean you have to fuck someone on our kitchen counter. At the end of the day, you’re still my brother.” I loved Isabella, and I couldn’t hide that from him. Yeah, we shared in the past, but Isabella was different, so fucking different and totally not worth sharing.

  “Mad. Me?” He laughed but not really; because nothing on his face said he was amused. “I’m not mad, Logan. Not at all.” He got into my face, completely naked and I didn’t even blink an eyelash at him.

  “You are and I’m sorry. I don’t want to hurt you, but I love Isabella. I love her, Luke, and I can’t share something I love. I just fucking can’t.” I couldn’t believe I had finally said it out loud to him.

  His eyes bugged out of his head, and his fists clenched at his side. Yeah, we were brothers but I was sure I was about a second away from getting my head knocked off.

  “Love?” He spat the word at me like I was dumb or something. “Virgin pussy doesn’t equal love, Logan. It doesn’t mean she is the one. God, you’re so fucked up.”

  He took a step back, and then another, an invisible wall forming between us. He was going into hiding, shielding himself from my reach. There was nothing I could say to make things right between him and me.

  The only thing that would change his mind would be the love a woman, and that woman was someone he would have to find all on his own.

  “She’s mine, Luke, and I love her. If you say anything bad about her from this point onward there’s going to be a problem between us. You can be mad and hateful but don’t take it out on her.” I left it at that, knowing that one day, hopefully soon, he would find his forever the same way I had.

  I just hoped she was strong enough to hold onto him and deal with his temper and mood swings.

  “Leave me alone, and congratu-fucking-lations on your happily ever after. I’m glad you
found the one.” He sneered and I wondered for a moment if I was losing my brother, or giving him a chance to find himself?

  Chapter Eleven

  Six Months Later

  “Logan.” I moaned against his throat as he cradled me against his chest, his tongue scraping against the sensitive flesh of my throat. He still kissed me the same way he had the first time, with love and adoration, like I was his entire world.

  The sound of the front door opening ended the moment between us. Logan’s deep breath’s fell against my neck and my eyes stayed glued to the front door where Luke came stumbling in. His eyes were glassy, and his features were angry. He looked like he had been at the bar all night drinking.

  “Oh, you’re here again.” He sneered, slamming the door closed behind him. Ever since Logan and I had come clean about our feelings, Luke had become more distant and angry. The man that I first met was buried under some type of rage, a rage that neither Logan or I understood.

  “Don’t be a dick, Luke. She has something important that she wanted to tell me so pull your head out of your ass.” Logan sounded more annoyed than he ever had, and this wasn’t the first time shit like this had happened.

  I pulled away from Logan ever so slightly, my eyes slipping down to my stomach where our baby was now growing. I was only nineteen and we hadn’t been together that long but I didn’t care. I loved him, and he loved me and when you had those two things, that is all that mattered.

  “I don’t think it’s a good idea to tell…” I tried to speak but Logan gave me a look that said stop.

  “What could little Ms. Perfect have to tell us? Huh?” Luke taunted, and for some reason, it made me angry. It made me furious that after six months he was still pissed that Logan and I were together. Now I had a baby growing inside of me, and I refused to let that type of anger surround us.

  “I’m pregnant.” The words tumbled from my mouth without a thought of what may happen after they were said.

  “What?” Both Logan and Luke said at the same time, their faces mirrors of one another’s. Shock forming on Luke’s seconds later, where Logan’s was pure excitement and love.

  “I’m pregnant. A baby is growing inside of me, our baby.” I cupped the side of his cheek, staring deeply into his eyes.

  “Oh fuck. I’m going to be a dad.” Excitement laced his words. “I…” Then worry seemed to take root. “Shit. I don’t know if I can handle this.” His eyes grew wide and I had to bring him back down to Earth and remind him that we could do this, we could do anything that we put our minds too.

  “Shhh. I love you. You love me. This is our baby, and as long as we have each other then that’s all we need.” With a deep breath the worry and fear faded from his eyes. The sound of glass breaking pierced my ears, and my eyes lifted back to Luke’s. I could see the pain in his eyes, the anger, and rage. He wanted to be loved, and cared for, and when Logan and I had found our forever he lost it.

  He needed his own forever, his own lover. Before Logan or I could even say another word he was gone, walking down the hall and to his bedroom, leaving us with the happy news.

  “He’s hurting. “ Logan whispered against my chest. I nodded, knowing he was right, so fucking right but I had a way of fixing this. I could help. I knew I would never be able to give myself to him not as long as Logan was alive.

  “I’ll fix this, baby, well fix this together,” I whispered back, wrapping both my arms around his head, allowing him to hear the beat of my erratic heart.

  “I love you, and our unborn child.” I could feel his love in the words he spoke and knew I was truly loved.

  Chapter One

  “Mr. Jefferson is here for your two thirty meeting.” Caroline, my temporary office assistant announced as she popped her head around the corner and into my office her dark blue eyes meeting mine.

  “Go ahead and send him in.” I requested letting out a ragged breath. I leaned back in my chair casually. Cameron Jefferson had been one of my longest partners in the business industry but not only that; he was also my best friend. Any time I needed a lawyer, advice, or help he was there.

  “When did I have to start scheduling an appointment to see my best friend?” Cameron joked as he stepped into my office. I shoved from the desk in a hurry and crossed the room in a few quick steps. We shook hands like we always did, and I couldn’t help but smile at the bastard because every time I seen him since Sadie came into his life he had been in a good mood.

  “Only when you stopped coming around as often, that and it doesn’t help that I’m literally always fucking busy.” I sighed into the air scrubbing a hand down my face wondering if that one move could erase all the stress from my life. I was drowning in business deals, income reports, and phone calls from my father who was supposed to have given the company over to me, no strings attached.

  “What can I say Sadie keeps me busy…” The grin on his face proved his statement to be true. I had never seen the man happier especially when it came to a woman. I was almost jealous, almost.

  “I can tell. I’ve never seen you this happy about just breathing.” My attitude was a bit piss poor for seeing someone I hadn’t in months but I knew if anyone could understand my frustration it would be Cameron.

  A gruff laugh escaped his throat. He looked good, better than he ever had and I hated to admit it but I was jealous. God damn was I jealous. He had everything I could ever want but here I was still a bachelor. To say I was done with the one-night stands was an understatement yet I still hadn’t found a woman worth my time.

  “Actually, I’m here because of Sadie…” There was a change in Cameron’s voice hell; there was a change in the air too. The kind of change that told me a favor was on the tip of his tongue. I was a businessman after all I knew how to spot that shit from a mile away.

  I pursed my lips, and stared him straight in the eyes, there was a flicker of sadness there that I hadn’t seen before and it made me wonder what could possibly be wrong with him?

  “Don’t beat around the fucking bush Cam. We’re businessmen, but most importantly friends. If you need something you know I’ll always do as much as I can too help you out.” I assured him, but the sadness in his eyes only seemed to grow. Frustration burned through my veins. It wasn’t something I enjoyed feeling towards one of my best friends but I was pretty close to breaking down and asking him what the fuck his problem was and why he couldn’t just come out with it?

  A second later Cameron exhaled a deep breath, “Sadie has a friend, a very close friend.” I could see him struggling through whatever it was that he wanted to ask me. Cameron wasn’t someone that had trouble getting to the point so whatever was going on must be important. Which is why I was trying to be patient and wait it out, but patience wasn’t really my strong suit.

  “Spit it the fuck out, Jefferson.” I snapped hitting the end of my rope. This shouldn’t be this hard. Cameron rolled his eyes at me in annoyance and then started to speak again.

  “Chloe is her name. Sadie had a friend name Chloe, someone she has become close with. They both volunteer at the local woman’s shelter downtown.”

  He trailed off, his eyes dropping to the floor before he took a steadying breath and looked back up at me. The nervousness that was rolling off of him would be amusing if it wasn’t taking up so much of my time.

  “Get to the point.” I folded my arms over my chest.

  “Alright, alright. Sadie told me last night that Chloe needs to find a new job or she’s going to lose her apartment and I know you aren’t a job agency or anything like that.” He paused and I knew then exactly what kind of favor he was asking for.

  “If I recall correctly you were saying something about hiring a new assistant…” Why d
id the look on Cameron’s face make it seem like he had been the one to find an answer to all my problems?

  “I don’t mean to be an asshole but I don’t hire just anyone…” Was there really anyway to say that without coming off as a prick?

  Cameron sighed, “I wouldn’t have asked if she was anyone else, but she’s Sadie’s friend, and you know how it goes, happy wife, happy life.” I clenched my fists at my sides not because I was angry with Cameron but because I knew there was no way I could tell one of my best friends no, and that in a few days I would have a new assistant who probably didn’t know her mouth from her asshole and in the business industry that wouldn’t fly. That coupled with the fact I had no time to train her, it was like a train accident waiting to happen.

  “Fine but I swear to you Cam if she can’t handle corporate business I will have to fire her. You’re my best friend so I’ll give her a chance but I’m trying to run an empire here and I need someone that can handle my demands.” And fuck did I have a lot of demands.

  “Awesome…” The air around Cameron changed as he clapped his hands together. The nervousness that he stepped into my office with was still there and only seemed to be growing. If me hiring Sadie’s friend wasn’t what was making him nervous then he must have something worse he needed to tell me?

  “So now that, that’s out of the way why the hell are you still so nervous…?” I questioned curiously leaning against my desk. A mischievous glint appeared in his eyes, but it was when he spoke that I understood exactly what the fucker had done.

  “Come in and meet your new boss, Chloe.” This time the nervous got turned on me. How long had she been standing there just on the other side of the door? My heart slammed against my ribs as soon as she pushed through the double glass doors. I was all but salivating when I finally finished looking her up and down.

  I started at her strawberry blonde hair that looked softer than hair really should, and moved over her soft, but slightly young facial features. I took in the dress she wore that clung to her body in all the right places. Her tits were perky and one button away from exploding out of the top of her dress.
